Aqaba customs foils attempts to smuggle firecrackers, cigarettes

AMMAN — Aqaba Customs Department personnel on Sunday foiled attempts to smuggle firecrackers and cigarettes.

Around 975 boxes of firecrackers were hidden in a container whose contents were declared as raw materials.

Customs agents confiscated the contraband and referred the case to the prosecutor. In another smuggling attempt, 209 boxes of cigarette were found hidden in a container that was supposed to be full of mattresses. The boxes were confiscated as well.
