Jordan condemns Somalia, Afghanistan terror attacks

AMMAN — The government on Monday condemned recent terrorist attacks that occurred in Afghanistan and Kenya. 

Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications Mohammad Momani stressed Jordan’s rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism, regardless of the perpetrators or their motives.  

In a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Momani, who is also the government spokesperson, strongly denounced the targeting of innocent civilians, stressing the Kingdom’s solidarity with the governments and the people of friendly and brotherly nations in confronting terrorism and radicalism. 

Combating radical ideologies and terrorist groups is an international responsibility in light of the great dangers they pose to world peace and stability, Momani noted, calling on the international community to up its coordination to confront this threat.    

Twenty-eight bus passengers were killed on Sunday by extremist militants near the border with Somalia in a terrorist attack by Somalia's Al Shabab group, which is linked to Al Qaeda. 

Also, scores of innocent civilians were killed and wounded in a suicide blast at a popular volleyball game in Afghanistan's Paktika province on Saturday.
