AMMAN — Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh on Wednesday said Jordan is moving ahead with its political and diplomatic efforts to achieve security and stability in the region, and to help resolve the crises facing it.
Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah at a meeting with a delegation from the Atlantic Council, Tarawneh highlighted the large burdens borne by the country due to the repercussions of regional issues, especially hosting a large number of Syrian refugees.
He also briefed the delegates on Jordan’s reform drive.
Tarawneh asserted Jordan’s support for Middle East peace efforts, on the basis of the two-state solution.
The delegates expressed their appreciation of Jordan’s role in boosting regional security, calling on the international community to assist the country in hosting Syrian refugees.
Established in 1961, the Atlantic Council is an international organisation that works to stimulate civil society to deal with international challenges.
