AMMAN — The Water Ministry on Monday said Jordan Valley Authority (JVA) personnel discovered a violation affecting an irrigation water carrier in Central Ghor’s Dirar area.
The ministry noted that the violators on Friday carved a 20x25 centimetre hole in the carrier, which originates from the King Talal Dam and passes by their house.
They left the hole without closing it, which led to flooding on Saturday when water was supplied through the carrier.
JVA cadres controlled the flooding within 20 minutes and pumping from the carrier stopped for four hours. JVA proceeded with legal action against the violators and sent its reports to the prosecutor general.
