AMMAN — The Ministry of Agriculture has attributed the fact that vegetables and fruits did not arrive in some governorates to a supply delay caused by the starting of activities later than usual at 10am.
The ministry said in a statement on Thursday that about 2,000 tonnes of vegetables and about 1,000 tonnes of poultry and eggs have been supplied to markets, the Jordan News Agency, Petra reported.
The statement added that vegetables and fruits are available in adequate quantities, calling on citizens not to rush to markets. Adnan Khaddam, Head of the Jordan Valley Farmers Union, said that prices are suitable for all citizens, as the price per kilogramme of vegetables does not exceed 40 piasters for all varieties, noting that about 35 vegetables trucks were dispatched on Thursday.
