State Security Court resumes case hearings

AMMAN —The State Security Court (SSC) began hearing security cases that were postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The SSC said in a statement on Monday that it had resumed trial sessions headed by Military Judge Col. Ali Mbaideen according to public safety standards and commitment to physical distancing.
According to the statement, the court had issued a decision to release more than 1,800 detainees since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis in order to ensure the safety of detainees and reduce overcrowding at correction and rehabilitation centres.
