SSC ratifies indictment list against 29 suspects, 15 companies

AMMAN — State Security Court (SSC) Attorney General Hazem Majali ratified the indictment list against 29 suspects and 15 companies involved in the so-called tobacco case, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The list of charges was filed by SSC Prosecutor General Col. Fawaz Otoum, and it includes acts that threaten public safety and security, and “would change the country’s economic state or endanger society’s basic conditions”.
The Attorney General decided to refer the defendants to trial before the SSC on charges of receiving and providing bribes for illegal acts or refraining from carrying out an assigned duty, in addition to charges entailing money laundering, misdemeanour misuse of authority and tax sales evasion.
The Attorney General referred the case to the SSC for an open hearing.
