SSC says plumbing, air conditioning ‘risky professions’
By JT - Jun 19,2016 - Last updated at Jun 19,2016
AMMAN — Social Security Corporation (SSC) Media Director Musa Sbeihi on Sunday said that work in air conditioning and plumbing is categorised as risky professions, because workers are vulnerable to chemicals, smokes, bacteria and viruses.
Sbeihi called on institutions and factories hiring such employees to provide the SSC with lists of the names and salaries of these workers, as such facilities have to pay subscription fees for the SSC 1 per cent higher than other jobs, according to an SSC statement.
Special regulations for workers employed in hazardous jobs constitute a positive development in the social security system that seeks to maintain the safety and health of workers, he added.
