Police seize unlicensed firearms in house raids

AMMAN — Police have seized 23 firearms of different types, including a 500mm assault rifle, as well as ammunition in a raid on two houses in Amman, the Public Security Department's (PSD) media centre said Thursday.
Police were acting on a tip that the owners of the houses were in possession of unlicensed weapons.
Two suspects were detained in connection with the case.
In Irbid, some 80km north of Amman, police seized seven firearms and ammunition hidden in a house, the PSD said.
One suspect who was found in possession of the weapons was detained.
