AMMAN — Abdullah, an Iraqi passenger transport driver who wanted to be identified only by his first name, told The Jordan Times on Monday that he had arrived in Amman at dawn and that the situation at the Turaibil border crossing was normal, as was passenger movement.
He noted that the crossing was being managed by civilians, and not by Islamist insurgents or the Iraqi army.
“Average people were managing the border crossing,” the driver said, adding that four of his colleagues left for Iraq Monday afternoon as there was nothing to fear all the way to Baghdad.
