BAU issues statement denying MP’s assault allegations

AMMAN — Al Balqa Applied University (BAU) issued a statement on Wednesday denying MP Mutaz Abu Rumman’s allegations that he was attacked inside the university’s campus.
BAU said in a press statement, carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra on Wednesday that BAU’s council of deans expressed its regret that the MP had been assaulted by people outside the university’s campus near 60th Street, saying that the MP then returned and informed the university’s president.
The statement added that the council of deans was surprised by the MP’s different statements made on social media platforms and through some media outlets.
Last Tuesday, MP Abu Rumman told the Lower House that he was attacked inside BAU’s campus. The council of deans stressed that BAU appreciates and respects everyone, including the MP, however maintains its legal right to prosecute anyone who slanders it.
