AMMAN — In an effort to support the national endeavours to tackle the issue of high unemployment rate in Jordan, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Al Balqa Applied University (BAU) joined hands to devise a project in alignment with the Jordan National E-TVET Strategy 2014-2020.

The project aims at increasing the employment opportunities of the graduates of the eight supported majors in Irbid University College and Karak University College, according to a KOCIA statement.

The project will be implemented through Dong-Eui University, a Korean university with a wide range of experience in the TVET sector.

Dong-Eui University is not only managing BAU’s project but is also cooperating with the Ministry of Education for the implementation of the project for “Establishment of Specialised Industrial School in Zarqa 2017-2022/$9.8M,” the statement said,

The project aims at catering the local market with skilled workers, and exposing the younger generation to the market needs prior to their graduation as this was proven crucial for the development of Jordan’s overall TVET sector.

This objective is expected to be accomplished through the establishment and improvement of TVET environment, curricula development, textbook development, provision of career guidance services, and capacity building for faculty members.

Moreover, BAU will contribute to the project by establishing and rehabilitating the facilities in BAU, Karak University College and Irbid University College.
