Around 42,000 tourists visited Petra during July — PDTRA

AMMAN — The number of tourists to Petra in July increased by 29 per cent compared with the same period last year, according to the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA).
A total of 42,092 tourists visited Petra this July, compared to 32,498 tourists in the same month of last year. PDTRA Chief Commissioner Falah Omoush told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that tourism in the rose red city is improving and is expected to witness more tourists in the coming months.
Deputy Chief Commissioner of PDTRA Suleiman Farajat said that Petra welcomed a total of 26,493 foreign tourists and 15,576 Arab tourists in July, which is a positive increase in the number of tourists, given that July is not part of the high season.
Farajat expected a promising season as of August 20, due to the Eid Al Adha holiday.
