Italian tourist dies after being hit by falling stone in Petra

AMMAN — An Italian tourist, 32, died on Thursday after a falling stone hit his head during a tour near the treasury in Petra, according to the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA).

PDTRA Chief Commissioner Suleiman Farajat said that the stone was dislodged as a result of heavy rain over the past few days. He stressed the authorities' keenness on ensuring tourists’ safety.
