Senate panel endorses constitutional amendments

AMMAN — The Senate’s Legal Committee on Tuesday approved the 2014 constitutional amendments as referred from the Lower House with no changes.
The amendments give the sole power to the King to appoint the army and intelligence chiefs, expand the jurisdiction of the Independent Elections Commission, and restrict the mandate of the military to defending the country.
