AMMAN — Representatives of various ministries and international entities concerned with Syrian refugees discussed their humanitarian conditions and issues related to social stability last Thursday.

At a meeting organised by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO), HRH Prince Hassan highlighted several issues deemed important to ensure social stability, stressing the importance of the quality of humanitarian efforts and social integration.

Prince Hassan, who chaired the meeting, underscored the importance of having accurate statistics that give a clear idea about social welfare in the Arab region, stressing that further attention should dedicated to preventive healthcare while ensuring the sustainability of infrastructure services.

To deal with these issues, the JHCO said it will adopt a proposal by the prince on establishing contacts with international entities through a series of meetings to initially write a paper on key issues such as health, environment, partnership, water and education.

JHCO Secretary General Ayman Mifleh said the meeting is part of a series of discussions that the organisation will hold in the future with various stakeholders to draw up policies on humanitarian assistance, stressing its readiness to deal with exceptional circumstances in this field, whether at the internal or external level.

According to official figures, there are around 1.4 million Syrians in Jordan, of whom some 620,000 are registered as refugees.
