Professional associations call for public entity to protect consumers

AMMAN — The consumer protection committee at the Professional Associations Council on Monday called on the government to establish a national public institution to protect consumers.
Bassem Kiswani, who heads the committee, said a hike in prices and an absence of price labels is evident in the local market, which misleads consumers.
He attributed this to the lack of effective monitoring, especially as the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply cannot handle such a task alone.
