AMMAN — Jordan’s Olympic golden boy Ahmad Abu Ghaush has delivered a huge boost to the Kingdom ahead of the 18th Asian Games which gets under way on Saturday, according to the Jordan Olympic Committee News Service.
Abu Ghaush, who won taekwondo gold at the Rio Olympics two years ago, has been nursing a broken rib that he suffered in training last month. He was forced to pull out of last weekend’s World Grand Prix in Moscow so that he could step up his fitness battle for Indonesia.
And it now appears that he is winning that battle after declaring: “I have been checked by the medical team and they have agreed that I should travel. My taekwondo starts on August 23 so I have more time to be fully fit and achieve my best for Jordan.” The Asian Games will run through September 3.
