AMMAN — Police on Thursday arrested a woman who allegedly murdered her husband and buried his body in their house in a neighbourhood in the capital, official sources said.

The suspect was arrested shortly after one of her younger daughters informed a relative that “her mother shot and killed her father and buried him in one of the rooms,” a senior judicial source said.

Coroners and investigators rushed to the house and found the body buried under tiles in one of the bedrooms, an official source told The Jordan Times.

The suspect had left her home and headed to Aqaba, some 330km south of Amman, but “police trailed her and arrested her with the help of Aqaba police,” the security
source added.

A post-mortem examination conducted on the victim by pathologists Ahmad Odeh and Adnan Abbas at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine concluded that the victim, who is in his 40s, died of a single bullet wound to the neck, a medical source told The Jordan Times.

The pathologists estimated that the victim had been dead for at least 36 hours, the medical source added.

The judicial source told The Jordan Times that investigations could reveal the involvement of more suspects in the case, mainly the victim’s sons.

Criminal Court Prosecutor Afif Khawaldeh is currently handling the case and was expected to start questioning the suspect late Thursday, according to the judicial source.
