Winners of El Hassan award announced, to be honoured in April

AMMAN — The General Secretariat of the Higher Council for Science and Technology is scheduled to hold a ceremony at the Royal Cultural Centre on April 20 honouring the winners of the “El Hassan Bin Talal Award for Scientific Excellence”.

This year the awards were given to institutions of general education, excluding vocational education.

The first award of JD7,000 will be shared between Mutah Secondary Comprehensive School for Girls/Al Karak for its project “Recycling”, and Al Dur Al Manthur Schools/Amman for its project “Implement teaching using STEM strategies”.

The second award of JD5,000 will be shared between Amman Baccalaureate School for its project “Amman Model United Nations (AMMUN)”, and Noor Al Hussein Secondary School for Girls/Al Karak for its project “Producers on the roofs”.

Meanwhile, the third award of JD3,000 is shared between King Abdullah School for Excellence/Tafileh for its project “Surface cultivation”, and Al Ashrafieh Comprehensive Secondary School for Boys/Irbid for its project “Employing education drama in eliminating and reducing the phenomenon of depriving females culture”.

The winners will be honoured at the ceremony, which will be held under the patronage of HRH Prince Hassan, president of the Higher Council for Science and Technology, according to a statement released on Sunday.
