AMMAN — The use of ride-hailing apps can cause a decrease in the use of other forms of public transport, with 34.29 per cent of respondents in an Arab Advisors Group survey reporting a drop in their usage of taxis after using the apps, a statement from the group said on Wednesday.

According to the survey, the use of ride-hailing apps also had more effect on the usage of public transport among female respondents. Hiba Rabadi, a Senior Research Analyst for Arab Advisors Group, noted that “15.79 per cent of respondents who use online ride-hailing apps and buses reported that their usage of buses decreased, while 16.67 per cent of respondents who use online ride-hailing apps and services reported that their usage of services decreased.”
