AMMAN — The US Agency for International Development (USAID) on Wednesday marked the completion of a two-year programme that helped 11 Jordanian business associations enhance their support for micro and small enterprises (MSEs) throughout Jordan.
MSEs make up over 97 per cent of private companies in Jordan, and contribute to approximately 40 per cent of the country’s GDP, according to USAID statement.
The programme started in 2016 to enhance business associations’abilities to better serve MSEs and enable them to become more competitive.
This serves to create a stronger business enabling environment in which MSEs can grow and benefit the Jordanian economy as a whole.
The programme, executed through the Centre for International Private Enterprise, assisted several Jordanian business associations in governance, financial suitability, communications and membership services, in addition to policy and advocacy.
