University president honours students for contributing 371 articles to Wikipedia

AMMAN — Hashemite University President, Kamal Bani Hani, on Monday honoured 118 students who contributed to enriching the Arabic version of online user generated encyclopedia Wikipedia with 371 scientific and cultural articles in various fields, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

“We celebrate your good efforts in increasing the Arabic content on the Internet, especially as nations that contribute to the production and dissemination of cultures, are nations that contribute to the building of human civilisation," Hani said at the ceremony.

The president of the Arab Content Club on the Internet, student Musab Banat, said that a number of the club's articles were categorised as "Featured article", which was evidence of their high standards of reliability and extensive use of sources, Petra added.
