AMMAN — UNICEF Jordan purchased three backhoe loader trucks with funding from UK Aid, as part of a wider programme to help the government cope with the increased strain on its water and sanitation sector, according to a UNICEF statement released Tuesday.
The keys to the trucks were handed over to Water Minister Hazem Nasser on Tuesday, and three jetting trucks are scheduled for delivery in July, according to the statement.
The total cost of the new equipment is JD500,000. “Ensuring that Jordan is able to provide clean water and safe sanitation to those living here is an essential part of maintaining Jordan’s resilience in the face of many regional challenges,” the statement quoted British Ambassador to Jordan Edward Oakden as saying.
