AMMAN — UK Minister for the Middle East James Cleverly met with Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Wissam Rabadi and Minister of Finance Mohamad Al-Ississ as part of his day-long “virtual visit” to Jordan.
The three ministers discussed the UK’s ongoing support to Jordan’s economic resilience in the face of coronavirus, work in the education sector and the emergency scale up of the National Aid Fund, according to a UK embassy statement.
Cleverly highlighted the UK’s long-term partnership with Jordan, and the ministers discussed the Jordan Taskforce meeting on economic reform which, co-chaired with the UK, took place on July 2.
Speaking after the minister’s visit, UK Ambassador Edward Oakden said: “We are delighted Minister Cleverly has come to Jordan virtually following similar visits to Jerusalem and Yemen. Our relationship with Jordan remains strong and deep. We will continue to support the Jordan government to plan for a sustainable economic recovery and build back better.”
