AMMAN — Jordan Engineers Association President Abdullah Obeidat on Sunday called on the Ministry of Higher Education to control the number of engineering students inside the Kingdom and abroad.
In a statement, Obeidat noted there are more than 40,000 engineering students studying in several countries, stressing that would-be engineers should have at least an average of 80 per cent in the second secondary school certificate to enrol in this discipline.
He also called on the ministry to stop teaching some engineering specialisations that the market does not currently need, to avoid losses in the national economy and frustration of these graduates.
