Suspects accused of selling fake antiques apprehended

AMMAN — The Preventive Security Department on Sunday arrested three people suspected of selling fake antiques, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

A Public Security Department spokesperson, Lt. Col. Amir Sartawi, said that the suspects were arrested in a vehicle in Amman. Sartawi added that three golden statues, a copper book, 43 golden coins and another seven small bronze coins were found with the suspects.

The spokesperson said that items were sent to the General Department of Antiquities to find out whether they were fabricated or of historical value.
