Student councils a means to promote leadership, democracy — deputy PM

AMMAN — Schools across the Kingdom on Thursday elected their student councils for grades five to twelve, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Education Minister Mohammad Thneibat said that the ministry, through these councils, seeks to prepare a generation of leaders that are able to take on the responsibilities that await them, communicate actively and manage crises.
Thneibat, who is also deputy prime minister for services, said the councils are aimed at enhancing patriotism and democracy practices. He visited two schools to check on the voting process.
