AMMAN — Tourism Minister Majd Shweikeh on Tuesday met Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan Andy Rachmianto over means to enhance cooperation in the field of tourism.

Shweikeh lauded Indonesia's interest in the Kingdom's religious tourism. She expressed gratitude to the envoy's wife for publishing a book on Jordan tourist attractions, highlighting the embassy's efforts towards promoting tourism in the Kingdom, notably Petra, via social media platforms.

The envoy said that about 1.2 million Indonesian tourists travel to perform umrah (the lesser Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca) every year, noting that a good number of them visit Jordan and Palestine as part of the trip, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
