Shweikeh calls for strategy to protect cultural heritage, archaeological sites

AMMAN — Tourism Minister Majd Shweikeh on Tuesday stressed the necessity of drawing up a unified strategy for preserving cultural heritage and protecting the Kingdom’s archaeological sites through participatory action among all institutions, empowering local communities and creating a model for site management.
Shweikeh, during a seminar titled "together to create an active participatory action to protect Jordan’s cultural heritage", attended by HRH Princess Dana Firas, the president of International Council on Monuments and Sites Jordan, and Director of the Regional Centre for Cultural Heritage Conservation in the Arab World Zaki Aslan, reviewed the government and the ministry’s efforts to handle the coronavirus pandemic, highlighting the "successful Jordanian model for crisis management".
