AMMAN — Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply and Minister of Labour Yousef Shamali on Wednesday met Turkish Ambassador to Jordan Erdem Ozan, with the talks focusing on the upcoming inaugural meeting of the Joint Economic Committee, which aims to strengthen economic relations between the two countries.

The discussions drew attention to the importance of strengthening economic cooperation, particularly in the field of trade.

Both parties emphasised the need to boost the private sector, promote knowledge sharing and capitalise on the opportunities available in Jordan and Turkey, especially following the recent entry into force of the Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Trade volume between the two nations reached some $410 million in the first five months of the current year. This figure includes $30.4 million worth of Jordanian exports, with the remaining balance being imports of Turkish goods.
