AMMAN — President and members of the Senate on Wednesday took the oath of office during a meeting at the Upper House.

Under Article 80 of the Constitution and Article 4 of the Senate bylaw, every senator, before taking their seat, shall take the oath of office before the Chamber.

Senate President Faisal Fayez expressed gratitude and appreciation for His Majesty King Abdullah's confidence, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Fayez, while presiding over the session, reviewed the prevailing conditions in the region and the economic, political and social challenges facing Jordan due to regional conflicts and the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic and social repercussions.

"Jordan has managed to maintain its security and stability and move forwards towards the future with steady steps thanks to the wisdom and courage of His Majesty, awareness of Jordanians and the resilience of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army and national institutions," said the Senate president.

Fayez added that the Kingdom's strength, resilience and ability to face challenges and threats are “stemmed from the strength of its internal front and resolve in combating all attempts that seek to undermine our unity and coherence of our social fabric".
