Senate panel approves Lower House version of IEC Law

AMMAN — The Senate’s Legal Affairs Committee on Sunday endorsed the Lower House’s amendments to the Independent Elections Commission (IEC) Law under which appointments in the oversight agency were included under the jurisdiction of the Civil Service Bureau.
Last week, the Senate rejected the Lower House’s amendments and insisted that the IEC be regulated by a by-law.
