AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi received on Sunday Vice President of the German Bundestag Aydan Özoguz in a meeting that focused on efforts to stop the aggression on Gaza and end the worsening humanitarian disaster resulting from its continuation.

Safadi and Özoguz explored ways to deliver sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid to all parts of the Gaza Strip, which has been grappling with an unprecedented catastrophe since the war began, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Safadi emphasised the urgent need for the international community to intervene promptly, urging an end to Israeli aggression and violations of international law.

He also warned of the famine in the Gaza Strip due to the continued aggression and Israel's prevention of the required level of aid entry and distribution, as well as its failure to fulfil its legal obligations as the occupying power.

Safadi and Özoguz also discussed Jordanian-German relations and the mutual commitment to broader cooperation in all fields.

Özoguz who is visiting the region to hear the Jordanian perspective on regional issues, confirmed that German-Jordanian relations hold special importance.

She stressed that Germany fully understands the suffering witnessed in the region and is keen to work with Jordan to find solutions to end the suffering in the Middle East and achieve a two-state solution.
