Safadi discuss ties, regional developments with Arab counterparts

AMMAN — Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Sunday discussed with his Arab counterparts in Beirut the ways to enhance bilateral relations, as well as regional developments.

Safadi’s meetings with his Arab counterparts came on the sidelines of the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit, which concluded on Sunday in Beirut, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.  

During a trilateral meeting, Safadi, and his Egyptian and Iraqi counterparts Sameh Shoukry and Mohammad Alhakim discussed the means to enhance bilateral cooperation in all fields, the statement said.

The three top diplomats also discussed the latest regional developments and ways to bolster coordination in a number of issues, including anti-terrorism and reconstruction.

They also stressed that they will maintain constant coordination among the three Arab countries on all regional issues of mutual concern, according to the statement.

Safadi also held separate meetings with the deputy prime minister of Kuwait, who is also the minister of foreign affairs, Sabah Al Khalid Al Sabah, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Maliki, Bahraini Foreign Minister Khalid Bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.

Meetings tackled bilateral relations, the latest regional developments and arrangements for an Arab ordinary summit that will be held in Tunisia in March 2019, the statement said.
