AMMAN — The Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) on Thursday marked 2022 Earth Day, under the theme “Trees for the Earth". An RSCN statement said that “the COVID-19 pandemic reflects an unhealthy relationship among human beings, the environment and habitats”.

In coincidence with Earth Day, the Kingdom is expected to receive the Indian yoga guru Sadhguru, who will visit several countries as part of a 30,000km trip through Europe and the Middle East to reach his homeland in India, in an effort to “save soil”, the statement added.

Earth Day is observed annually on April 22, focusing on improving humans’ behaviour towards nature and creating global, national and local policies geared towards protecting wildlife and the environment, in addition to promoting green practices in the context of earth and nature. The first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970.
