AMMAN — Education Minister Omar Razzaz on Wednesday called for developing the skills and qualifications of teachers and administrative staff, in a way that positively reflects on classrooms and students.
Razzaz made his remarks during a meeting with members of the higher committee for the project to enhance vocational development, which comprises representatives of the Canadian embassy in Amman and the Queen Rania Teacher Academy, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Attendees discussed training programmes implemented by the ministry in cooperation with the embassy and the academy, which target teachers, principals, advisors and lab supervisors.
The trainings include a technical side that seeks to develop trainees’ capabilities and professional proficiency, and also provides school principals with leadership skills under the best international practices.
Razzaz highlighted the importance for such training programmes to be in harmony with contents of school curricula and examinations, in addition to their accordance with quality control, evaluation and follow-ups.
The minister also called for having qualified and trained educational leaders at all levels, in order to guarantee sufficient numbers of competent human resources so as to enable the ministry to fill vacancies which emerge after administrative restructurings.
He praised the efforts of stakeholders in executing such high-quality programmes, noting that the feedback received from the field shows the need for such training plans.
Razzaz expressed appreciation for the Canadian government’s support to the ministry, especially at the training field, stressing, at the same time, the good level of partnership between the ministry and the academy.
