PSD launches awareness campaign on combating drugs

AMMAN — The Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Monday launched an awareness campaign titled "Consciously, we protect generations" with the aim of combating narcotics and increasing community awareness of their risks.

Inspector General at PSD Brig. Gen. Anwar Tarawneh said that launching this campaign is part of the directorate’s intensified security campaigns to combat drugs and arrest all associated with the drug trade, according to a PSD statement.

He stressed that spreading anti-drug information contributes to creating a culture that rejects narcotics. The public awareness campaign comes as a bid to support security personnel while on duty in eliminating drugs, he said.

The campaign targets all segments of society through awareness messages and media campaigns that show the dangers of narcotics, in addition to holding workshops, lectures and events. Ultimately a national conference on combating drugs will be held, and the participation of all is welcomed.
