AMMAN — HRH Princess Basma, president of the Goodwill Campaign Higher Committee of the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development, on Tuesday stressed the importance of the campaign’s partnership with the private medical sector, commending its role in improving the lives of patients from underprivileged families across the Kingdom.

While visiting the patients of the Shami Eye Centre in Aqaba, Princess Basma said that these fruitful partnerships have helped to end the suffering of several patients, thanks to a gesture that reflects the values of human solidarity among national institutions.

The princess lauded the efforts of Al Shami Eye Centre, notably the free-of-charge surgical interventions offered by their competent personnel for patients from various regions of the Kingdom, in cooperation with Qatar Charity.

She also emphasised the campaign’s keenness to boost cooperation with various national institutions, especially medical partnerships that help improve the health and lives of patients with economic conditions that prevent their access to necessary healthcare.

Highlighting cooperation with the Goodwill Campaign through the “Healing Touch” programme, Omar Al Zu’bi, an ophthalmologist at Al Shami Eye Centre, noted that a total of 131 operations were conducted in support of the campaign’s beneficiaries this year.

All operations were successful and help improve the patients’ vision, he added, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
