AMMAN — HRH Princess Basma, Honorary President of Save the Children (SC) Jordan, on Tuesday launched the Curio and Fudolio Early Learning Network, a social enterprise leading in early childhood development that is affiliated with SC.

The network aims to provide sustainable and effective support in launching a number of high-quality and affordable kindergartens in the governorates and remote areas in order to ease children’s access to preschool education, through an allocation of a percentage of SC branches’ fees.

During the launch ceremony, held at the Amman-based Curio headquarters, Princess Basma stressed children’s rights to access equal, advanced, early and diverse educational opportunities, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The princess also highlighted the key role of social initiatives in addressing certain challenges, and in sustaining multiple solutions raised by the affected individuals themselves, especially with regards to women.

All of the kindergartens under the Curio and Fudolio preschool centre adopt the same educational strategies and systems to improve children’s physical and mental well-being.

Omar Shoqom, chairman of the Board of Directors of SC Jordan, said that the model is inspired by Save the Children Jordan, where self-reliance is encouraged to further achieve and maintain sustainability as a core strategy, instead of relying on grants and external assistance.

Shoqom added that SC promotes job creation and economic empowerment for women in local communities by supporting local female entrepreneurs in becoming vetted and trained based on Curio and Fudolio’s core values and educational philosophy.

Executive Director of SC Jordan Diala Khamra noted that Curio and Fudolio will leverage the best educational systems and practices for children.

“Our main nurseries and kindergartens in the governorates are run by female entrepreneurs, who were… chosen in an open competition under specific selection criteria set in alignment with Curio’s values and educational culture,” she said.
