Prince Mired meets with Senate committee members

AMMAN — HRH Prince Mired, president of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD), on Wednesday met members of the Senate’s Committee of the Youth Political Dialogue Initiative. The committee includes senators: Rabah Al Dabas, Issa Murad, Ihsan Barakat and Abdul Rahim Al Bekaai.
The prince, during the meeting, went over the Kingdom’s achievements in support of persons with disabilities, noting that significant progress has been made in the field of legislation through the issuance of a modern anti-discrimination law, namely Law No. 20 of 2017 on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, in addition to the development of three sectoral strategies related to integrated education, accessibility and alternatives to shelters, according to a HCD statement.
Prince Mired also drew attention to the persons with disabilities' poor political participation and highlighted the challenges related to the availability of job opportunities and shelters.
