AMMAN — Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Saturday criticised the performance of some government agencies, urging ministers to fight "routine and administrative limpness" through more efficient management.

Speaking at the Government Leaders Forum, the premier called on officials at some public agencies with lagging performance to correct the current situation and enforce the rule of law inside public institutions.

He also called for promoting a culture in public administration where there is no delay in service delivery, urging efforts to “eliminate the sluggishness in the public sector”.

"Those who hinder work progress or do not perform their duties must abandon the ship of public administration," he said, highlighting the role of effective public agencies in attracting investments and overcoming the challenges facing them.

Ensour instructed ministers to create an "internal revolt" in the administration of public agencies, urging them and all public sector employees to "feel with the people" and to respond to their needs.

He said that Jordan's achievements and wise leadership are enough reasons for the public to improve the quality of public services, highlighting that "sound administration” is an integral part of His Majesty King Abdullah’s vision.

"True patriotism is not about gunpowder and going to war," he said, stressing that a patriot is one who aptly performs their day-to-day duties and serves the country.
