Police seize JD300,000 worth of artefacts

ZARQA — Police on Monday seized 21 artefacts found in a house of a Hittin camp resident. The seized artefacts included gold, bronze and stone statues, according to Ruseifa Police Department.
Police had received information that a Hittin camp resident had found some expensive antiquities and was trying to sell them.
The man was detained in a police ambush and the artefacts were seized. According to police, the artefacts, whose estimated value is JD300,000, date back to the Roman and the Byzantine eras. The detainee is being questioned before he is referred to court.
