AMMAN — Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al Khasawneh on Tuesday led a ceremony to launch a nationwide clean-up campaign, which is organised by the Ministry of Environment in cooperation with public institutions and civil society organisations.
The campaign, titled "With determination, we protect our environment" kicked off at Ghamadan Park, south of Amman. It targets public parks, forests, city centres and major roads across the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The campaign aims to crackdown on "the phenomenon of random dumping of waste” and littering, which has negative effects on public facilities, parks and tourist attractions.
A clean environment, Khasawneh said, is key to promote promotion, stressing the need to spread awareness about negative practices.
Environment Minister Nabil Masarweh said that the ministry launched a national environment awareness plan, including nationwide clean-up campaigns, which enhance a sense of citizenship and raise public awareness.
