AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh inspected on Wednesday several development projects in Mafraq Governorate.
During his visit, Khasawneh inspected the Zaatari water pumping station, which supplies drinking water to many governorates such as Irbid, Jerash and Ajloun, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During the inspection he stressed the need for the station to operate as efficiently as possible to continuously supply water to citizens in accordance with the best standards.
Khasawneh also urged the Ministry of Water to start drilling new wells within a week in order to boost the availability of water resources that feed the station.
Twenty-six groundwater wells feed the Zaatari plant, in addition to the water coming through the Disi water line through the conveyor line in the Kho area, which pumps 26 million cubic metres of water per year.
The PM also emphasised the need to provide alternative, safe and traversable roads for all sections of the Baghdad international road that are subject to expansion and maintenance work.
