AMMAN — Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Imad Fakhoury on Thursday signed a protocol agreement with UNICEF to provide a grant of JD186,690 to support the Ministry of Education.
The project aims to support the Ministry of Education’s campaign “Together towards a safe school environment”, to be implemented between February 2017 and February 2018, a statement by the Planning Ministry said.
The project comes as a technical assistance to support the efforts of the Education Ministry to continuously improve, in accordance with the priorities of the National Strategy for the Development of Human Resource (2016-2025), the statement said.
It will support the campaign as a major programme, strengthening the capacity of the coordinators and members of school advocacy groups, institutionalising procedures and guidelines for detecting and responding to violence, and ensuring and implementing a campaign at the districts level in the field, according to the statement.
It will also help complete the development of the electronic system to measure levels of violence in schools.
Resident Representative of UNICEF in Jordan Robert Jenkins signed the agreement on behalf of UNICEF, the statement added.
