AMMAN — The Islamic Action Front (IAF) on Saturday denounced the detention of “national figures and activists”, calling on the government to “immediately release all the arrested figures” and stop “silencing and limiting public freedoms”.
In a statement, the IAF deemed the arrests as based on the people’s political views and for voicing their opinions in light of “the government’s failure in all economic, social and security aspects”. The statement said that 18 activists, including former MPs, were recently detained.
