AMMAN — The National Council for Family Affairs (NCFA) on Wednesday completed four manuals to standardise response procedures to gender-based violence, domestic violence and child protection cases.

The manuals clearly identified the roles and responsibilities of the ministries of interior, education and health ministries, and the Public Security Directorate’s (PSD) Department of Family and Juvenile Protection in protection cases, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Interior Minister Mazen Faraiah said that the manuals serve as standardised reference to strengthen the role of all workers in domestic violence cases.

The manuals provide specific standards that help ensure effective performance and enhance the Interior Ministry’s role in family protection,  Petra reported.

To enhance the national protection system, the Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the NCFA, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and UNICEF, helped develop the health ministry’s manual for addressing gender-based violence, domestic violence and child protection cases, to ensure standardised procedures in this arena, Health Minister Feras Al Hawari  said.

The head of the PSD’s Department of Family and Juvenile Protection Firas Rashid said that the manuals address the limits, duties and responsibilities of partners in protection systems.

Director of Education Management at the Ministry of Education Sami Mahasis said that the guidance department heads have received training on the manuals.

Mahasis added that the manuals will serve as a reference document during the 2021 to 2022 scholastic year to ensure child protection and handle domestic and school violence.

NCFA Secretary General Mohammad Miqdadi said that the manuals strengthen the ability of institutions to deliver comprehensive, quality services to address gender-based violence, domestic violence and child protection cases.
