AMMAN — Tens of employees at Mutah University on Monday stormed administration offices in protest against not having their demands for end-of-service incentives and allowances met.
Protesting workers smashed office equipment, which prompted the university’s security staff to intervene and evacuate the building. Director of the university’s public relations department, Walid Rudneh, said the board of trustees and deans are now following up on workers’ “legitimate” demands, calling on protesters to avoid violence.
Mustafa Mubaidin, president of the university’s workers club, said the employees will continue their protest until their demands are met.
