AMMAN — Deputising for Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State Rajai Muasher on Saturday received the UK's Labour Party Leader Jeremy Corbyn, who is currently visiting the Kingdom. Muasher discussed with Corbyn the challenges facing Jordan as a result of the unstable regional situation and developments in the Middle East, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Corbyn confirmed the party's firm positions on the Middle East issues, foremost of which is supporting a just settlement of the Palestinian cause and supporting a political solution to the Syrian crisis. He also affirmed the right of the Palestinian people to live in peace on their own land and within an independent and recognised Palestinian state.

Corbyn also commended Jordan's efforts in hosting refugees. For his part, Muasher said that Jordan has faced unprecedented challenges during the past seven years due to the developments in Syria and the influx of refugees, which has put great strain on the infrastructure of schools, hospitals and water sources as well as the labour market.
